Membership directory
The "Membership" in our website have been updated. Please go into the
alphabetical list and the list by clubs, and check your name, address, phone
number and e-mail address if you have. You need a user name and a password to
get into the "Membership" pages. If you do not have them, your rep will provide
tem to you.
If any correction will be needed, notify your rep or send
e-mail and
explain the correction.
Website
Enhancement
We have added a mapping feature to member clubs on the
website. This new feature assists you in obtaining directions and estimated
times for travel to the club you will currently be playing. To use this
feature simply login to the West Coast website at
www.wcwga.com and "click" on the "Member
Clubs" tab at the top of the page. This will bring you to the current listing
of all the clubs in West Coast. "Click" on the address of the club and it
will forward you to the mapping program. On the right side of the page under
"Get Directions" "click" on "to here", it now forwards you to a page where you
will type in your address and then "click" the "Get Directions" tab. This
forwards you another page where on the right side under the heading of "Route"
you will "click" on "turn-by-turn" directions. This produces a detailed
map which gives you the total distance and estimated time to travel along with
step by step directions to the club.
I know from my detailed explanation above that it
appears to be difficult but it is very easy to use. We hope you enjoy the new
enhancement.
Attendance
Recordkeeping
I would just like to reiterate to all of the
Representatives the importance of proper attendance recordkeeping. You are
asked to maintain a listing of all your members along with the number of times
that they have played during the year. For the benefit of the new
Representatives, the reason is that during the year at certain tournaments
(e.g. Mother Lassing, Brassies Challenge and West Coast Championship) we have
more than a full field, which generates a waiting list. It is at that time
that we give the opportunity to play to the member that has supported West
Coast, which is determined by the number of play dates. So it has become very
important to maintain those records accurately. We have decided to also
maintain play dates at the Board level. We will be logging in all players
from the "Scoring Sheets" at each tournament. So it is important that you
convey to your members that they need to sign their name on the scoring sheet,
even if they decide to "no card". I will be announcing this at the next few
tournaments to make sure that everyone understands. This, by no means, lifts
the responsibility from the Representative, it is a way for us to double check
the accuracy and maintain the integrity of the play dates.
Brassies
Trophy
Last year we made the West Coast/Brassies Challenge
Trophy available to he member clubs that participated in the event. At times
it made it somewhat difficult to transport the trophy and remember which club
was to display it. Several clubs felt like they did not have a proper place
to display the trophy. So we have decided to display the trophy at the major
events ( Mother Lassing, West Coast Championship and Brassies Challenge).
However, we did leave the option open for any club that would like to display
the trophy to be able to do. If you would like to have the trophy please
contact me and I will deliver it to you at the next West Coast event.
Tournament
Signup
As a West Coast Representative, you no doubt are aware
of the time and effort that it takes to put on a tournament. I would like to
ask that everyone make an effort to respond to the club hosting the event in
the designated timeframe, which is 7 days in advance. Also, please make every
effort to email all of your players for your club. In some instances lately,
we have players that call the Rep directly or have shown up without be signed
up. This, as you know, makes it very difficult when the Rep has to reshuffle
the foursomes to add players. If you copy all of your players on your email
to the Hosting Club Rep, then they will be aware that they are signed up to
play or if they thought they were signed up to play. You actually kill two
birds with one stone. We could really use your help in this area.
